Too many people are constantly searching for the "Holy Grail" of Internet advertising. Instead of just getting out there and doing something every single day, they sit back and wait till they find the "Secret" to Internet marketing.

Of course there are great techniques out there that you could be using. I'm sure there are great products out there to teach you how to market better. Never stop learning. The instant you stop learning, you start to stagnate.

You might actually find that the top experts disagree with each other on what techniques to use. Stupid but, this is because there is only one true judge of marketing... testing!

Without testing, you'll never know which marketing techniques work for you.

Every successful Internet marketer will agree upon one thing, there is only one "secret" of Internet marketing.

If you sit on your butt and do nothing, you will get nothing in return!

To be a success in Internet marketing, you've got to do something. If you sit on the sidelines and just watch and learn, you'll never make a dime.

Start doing something...even if it doesn't work!

You have to "practice" Internet marketing.

If you want to become a better copywriter, learn and study, but then take massive action and start testing what you've learned against your existing sales letters.

Something that almost no one ever seems to mention in regards to business is that some of the most successful companies expect that only one out of every seven products they create will be a success worth continuing.

Claude Hopkins, considered to be the forerunner of many of today's direct response strategies, recorded this in his book "Scientific Advertising":

"There are many surprises in advertising. A project you will laugh at may make a great success. A project you are sure of may fall down. All because tastes differ so. None of us know enough peoples desires to get an average viewpoint."

The first website project to create might not work. If you're smart about it, and keep working, you will learn from it. And your next project may be a wild success.

The reason for your current failure, could be the wrong product, or the wrong market. If you can explain in one paragraph (or less) who your target market is, then you're not ready for success.

Test some different products. Test some different advertising methods. Test some different ads. Only testing can tell you what will or will not work online or offline.

The trick is to keep your testing small. Started PPC campaign, test an ezine ad or two, run some banner ads.

Set up a small budget of say $50 - $100 every month just for testing (more experienced marketers have a much higher budget for testing).

Never spend money on advertising that could put you out of business. It should be a small and risk-free monthly budget.

If you really have no money to spend on advertising this, start with free traffic techniques.

There are dozens of them that you can use as well. In this area, never spend more time on any advertising technique than you can afford to lose.

Time and money are essentially the same thing, as you become more successful, time is the resource that you can never replace.

The secret to Internet marketing is to "do, not just learn".

Even if everything doesn't go to plan, adapt and try something else.

The second Internet marketing secret is much like the first one. It is "Don't give up!"
